For this production of The Lion King Jr., I took on the role of Creative Designer. I came up with the visual concept and led the teams that brought everything to life — from construction to painting to stage setup.
One of the biggest pieces was Pride Rock. It had to look iconic, be sturdy enough to hold several cast members, and still be light enough for kids to move. We built it with a wooden base, added stairs, and carved styrofoam on top to get that natural rock texture.
We also built a round truss structure with stretched fabric to use as a projection surface throughout the show — it added a really dynamic layer to the visuals.
To bring even more life to the stage, we created silhouette cutouts of trees and mountains. They gave the set a fun, pop-up book feel that worked really well with the story’s vibe.
I managed the full design process and worked closely with the art, construction, and production teams to pull everything together in time for the show.
